About Us

Lucy Best, Principal Orthotist

I am an orthotist with many years experience and am passionate about my job. If you think you may need orthotic treatment then I would be more than happy to help find the best solution for you.

Here's a bit about me:
I graduated from Strathclyde University in 1992 with a BSc (Hons) in Prosthetics and Orthotics. Since then I worked as a Prosthetist/Orthotist in Cork in Ireland, Lucerne in Switzerland, and for NHS clients in Manchester and Bournemouth in England. I taught prosthetics at Salford University and spent 3.5 years in Laos in South East Asia as a Prosthetics/Orthotics Trainer and Mentor for a charity working for the Laos Ministry of Health. I came back from Laos, started a family and worked part-time working as a Locum Orthotist in a number of NHS clinics in Southampton, Salisbury and the Isle of Wight.

In 2013, I set up Hampshire Orthotics Ltd so that I could provide the best possible care and solutions for patients with physical disabilities and mobility problems. My wide experience of working in private and NHS clinics in England and overseas means I can offer help and advice even for the most challenging cases.

I am registered with the UK Health & Care Professions' Council (HCPC), a full member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO) and a full member of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO).
